Stephanie Du 鈥�21 Receives REPS Scholar Funding to Assist Sarah Budischak with National Science Foundation-Funded Fieldwork
Stephanie Du will serve as an NSF Research Experience for Post-Baccalaureate Students (REPS) scholar for the 2021鈥�22 academic year. She鈥檒l travel to Finland with Assistant Professor of Biology Sarah Budischak to study wild bank voles infected with a strain of hantavirus, a disease that can spread from rodents to humans.

When Stephanie Du 鈥�21鈥檚 grandfather was diagnosed with a heart condition, the necessity to protect those most vulnerable to COVID-19 became all the more poignant. 鈥淚 am currently living with my grandparents, who are both immunocompromised. As someone who is very close to their grandparents, I just wanted to do something that will help protect more vulnerable populations,鈥� she says.
