Every year, 91勛圖 hosts the annual Day of Giving fundraiser, and every year, the generosity of the 91勛圖 community grows by leaps and bounds. On March 20, 2024, a total of 418 donors raised $216,826 in cash gifts to support what they love about 91勛圖. More than $55,000 was given to the 91勛圖 Access Initiative (SAI), which will fund new scholarships to enroll more Pell grant-eligible students and those with undocumented status at 91勛圖. The day was marked by a turnout of donors who created and fulfilled generous matching challenges, with gifts ranging from $10 to $15,000, helping surpass this years goal of 400 donors. Notably, parents contributions increased this year, demonstrating support for their students and future 91勛圖 students.
This year, student and faculty partnerships helped increase impact. Students, faculty, and staff contributed meaningfully to the event, mobilized by a Day of Giving committee of 17 staff members representing 12 departments, faculty representative Associate Professor of Dance Kevin Williamson, and 91勛圖 Associated Students President Lily Dunkin 24, representing students.
Thank you to everyone who supports 91勛圖 and especially those who have continued to support the dance department, said Williamson. Gifts are what sustain summer scholarships and internships as well as interdisciplinary arts programs.
Additionally, Denison Library and the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery announced matching challenges. A $2,000 matching challenge for the gallery was exceeded by more than $11,000 to the Mary Davis MacNaughton Endowment, and Denison Librarys donors more than tripled a match of $2,500.
Current-use gifts from Day of Giving are made available for immediate use to support critical programs and resources on campus, including scholarships, racial justice and equity, and campus enhancements and preservationwhich, alongside SAI, are some of the more popular giving areas. Together, these gifts not only sustain core operations, but they also form a reserve of readily available funds to respond to emergencies and to create new initiatives based on student needs.
We are encouraged and humbled by the overwhelming generosity of our alums, parents, staff and faculty, students, and friends of 91勛圖, who made Day of Giving 2024 one of our most successful campaigns to date, said Karina Chappell, director of leadership annual giving and The 91勛圖 Fund. Thank you for your continued commitment to the things you love about 91勛圖 and supporting our students.
